Nordic Walking for Cancer Recovery
This program is for people who have/had cancer (from diagnosis, during treatment and after treatment).
Nordic Walking is an effective way for you to exercise whilst maintaining and/or improving your functionality and mobility at the same time.
Nordic Walking is beneficial in cancer recovery as it helps promote an increase in functional mobility, quality of life, physical fitness but more specifically improved shoulder mobility and a positive impact on lymphedema (particularly in breast cancer survivors).
Using two walking sticks, Nordic Walking activates up to 80–90% of your muscles, making it more effective than regular walking. Each session is facilitated by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist from Arthritis ACT, who will guide you through correct pole setup and technique. The walk is paced to suit your comfort and ability.
*Nordic Poles will be provided for use during the session. No experience necessary.
It is essential that you register for every ENHANCE session you wish to attend before you attend the session. This is to ensure the safety and welfare of all participants, CCACT staff and session facilitators. If you are not registered, unfortunately staff will have to turn you away from the session. Please register to avoid disappointment.
