Donations and Bequests
Your donation will assist The Cancer Council ACT to continue its vital work within the community by funding research, information and supportive care services for people affected by cancer.
Your continuing support will also help us to achieve our vision of promoting a healthier community by reducing the incidence and impact of cancer in the Canberra region.
Becoming a Donor
Your donation will help support some of the following initiatives:
- Cancer research and related activities in the ACT
- Programs in schools, workplaces and the community to help raise cancer awareness and prevention.
- Quitline calls, provide smoking cessation seminars, cessation courses for adults in the ACT community.
- School based youth smoking prevention and cessation strategies as an output of the ACT Youth Smoking Prevention Project.
- Cancer Information and Supportive Care Program assist cancer patients, their families, friends and carers.
- Information through the Cancer Helpline, a library service, and publications.
- Practical and emotional support provided through support groups, volunteer peer support and a wig service.

In Memoriam donations:
Some families request that their loved one be commemorated through a memorial donation in lieu of flowers. Funeral homes in the ACT have envelopes for donations to The Cancer Council ACT. Memorial donations may also be made by mail, telephone, online or in person.
Bequests and Gift Planning
One important way you can help The Cancer Council ACT in the future is by including a Bequest in your Will.
There are many of ways you can help. You may lconsider the Cancer Council ACT in your Will.
You may wish to:
- Give a specific amount of money
- Gift property, shares, vehicle, artworks and the like
Whatever amount you bequeath as your personal heritance to The Cancer Council ACT, be assured that it will be an enduring tribute to your generosity and concern for the welfare of fellow citizens of the ACT.
If you choose to include The Council in your Will, you will be invited to join The Heritage Circle, which honours those who have made a bequest to The Cancer Council ACT.

The Cancer Council ACT has published a booklet “Your Will could help reduce the incidence and impact of cancer in the ACT”. The booklet outlines the work of The Council and explains the importance of leaving a Will. It also contains the suggested wording to use when leaving a Bequest to The Cancer Council ACT.
