Relay For Life

Relay For Life is an emotionally charged 24 hour team event. It is open to everyone in the community, with teams of 10 to 15 people challenging themselves to keep their baton moving in a relay style walk or run around AIS Stadium.

It’s the world’s largest fundraising event, held in more than 20 countries. The Canberra Relay For Life has grown enormously from raising $39,000 in 2000 to over $420,000 in 2012.

The candle lighting ceremony at dusk is a moving time of reflection and remembrance as people light candles to support those living with cancer and honour those lost to the disease.

The event involves on-site overnight camping and enjoys a community festival atmosphere with entertainment including local bands, a Miss Relay pageant, movies on the big screen, food stalls, games and family activities held throughout the 24 hours. The event is a great way for the Canberra community to get together and have some fun, while at the same time raising much needed funds for Cancer Council ACT.

So get your team together, start fundraising and join us for this fun and memorable event.
